You can use your BuzzCard to not only access campus buildings, but is also used to administer your meal plan, access the Campus Recreation Center, and get you into campus athletic events!

BuzzCard Account Funds FAQ

If I purchase a GT Meal Plan, can I use it at Tech Square?

No, meal plan swipes and Dining Points from your meal plan are not accepted in Tech Square. However, other forms of payment, including BuzzCard account funds, can be used at the restaurants in Tech Square.*

* Only restaurants and shops along 5th Street and on the same side as the GT Bookstore.

What's the difference between BuzzCard Account funds, Dining Points, and Dining Points Bonus? 

BuzzCard Account funds are usable at over 200 locations on campus, including vending machines, laundry machines, select Tech Square merchants, and all Campus Dining locations. Dining Points can be used at Blue Donkey, WingZone, H2O Cafe, Starbucks @ CULC, and Georgia Tech Dining locations. Dining Points Bonuses can only be used at Georgia Tech Dining locations.

Can I transfer funds between my BuzzCard Account funds, Dining Points, and Dining Points Bonus? 

No, these are all separate stored-value accounts and the funds are neither transferable nor interchangeable.

Do my BuzzCard Account Funds expire at the end of the semester?

No. Your BuzzCard account funds remain in your account even after you graduate or leave Georgia Tech.*

How can I make a deposit and how long will it take to post to my BuzzCard account?

You can make a deposit via "Manage Your Account", a BuzzCard ATM, or in person at the BuzzCard Center. Funds added with any one of these three (3) methods will be available immediately.

* Registered students only: You can add more BuzzCard account funds via the meal plan app (during meal plan sign-up periods only). This amount is billed to your student Bursar's account for payment collection and the funds will be available within two (2) hours.

What do I do if my BuzzCard is not working?

If your BuzzCard is no longer functioning via the magnetic strip or the proximity chip, you will need to visit the BuzzCard Center to retrieve a replacement. For your replacement, you will need to turn in your non-functioning card and take a new picture.

Deactivate/Reactivate BuzzCard FAQ

How do I deactivate my BuzzCard?

The best way is to go to http://buzzcard.gatech.edu and login to Manage Your Account. Select Card Services. Then select Deactivate Your BuzzCard. Only your current account number will be displayed. By clicking Deactivate Your Card, you will turn off your BuzzCard for all BuzzCard account purchases, meal plans, parking and transportation services, and housing access. If you find your card, you can reactivate your card online or by coming to the BuzzCard Center.

Can I reactivate my card online?

Yes. To reactivate your BuzzCard, logon to Manage Your Account from http://buzzcard.gatech.edu and select Card Services and then the Reactivate Your BuzzCard tab. To reactive your card select the account number that matches the number on the back, lower left, of the card. Please note that only the latest account number can be reactivated. We cannot reactivate old cards that have an active replacement card.

Lost/Stolen FAQ

What do I do about a lost or stolen BuzzCard? 

You can suspend or reactivate your card via "Manage Your Account" --> "Card Services"; this will show your 6-digit card number.

** Students needing access to their dorm/room may visit their satellite housing office (8a-8p weekdays) or contact the PL/RA on call; either will be able to assist you with getting in to your dorm. All other issues will have to wait until the next business day.

What do I do if I need a replacement BuzzCard?

If your BuzzCard is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond normal wear-and-tear, you will need to replace your BuzzCard. For your replacement, we will have to take a new picture and you will have to pay the $30 replacement fee in person at the BuzzCard Center.

Can I get a replacement BuzzCard sent to me through the mail? 

No. The BuzzCard is an official Georgia State Identification Card and as such, is governed under State of Georgia and Homeland Security regulations. Initial and replacement cards require identity verification which can only be done in person at the BuzzCard Center.

Will I have to have my picture retaken when I get a replacement card?

Yes. In order for us to maintain an up-to-date database, you photo will have to be retaken. Your BuzzCard is an official Georgia State Identification Card and subject to the laws and regulations of the State of Georgia.
